PLEASE NOTE. ALTHOUGH THE MAJORITY OF THE CHARACTERS ARE WRITTEN AS MALE, I AM PROPOSING TO CAST SEVERAL WITH FEMALE ACTORS FOLLOWING THE SUCCESS IN SO DOING IN MY PRODUCTION OF RICHARD III IN 2014. ALSO, SOME ACTORS MAY BE CAST IN TWO OR MORE ROLES.
CHARACTERS INCLUDE:
Julius Caesar--A great Roman general recently returned to Rome after a successful military campaign.
Mark Anthony--A friend of Caesar, persuasive and intelligent.
Brutus--While he loves Caesar as a friend, he opposes the ascension of any single man to the position of dictator.
Lucius--a servant to Brutus.
Cassius--A general who dislikes the fact that Caesar has become godlike in the eyes of the Romans.
Octavius--Caesar’s adopted son and appointed successor.
Cassca--A public figure opposed to Caesar’s rise to power.
Calpurnia (Julius Caesar’s wife)--She invests authority in omens and warns Caesar against going to the Senate on the Ides of March.
Portia (Brutus’s wife)--The daughter of a noble Roman who took sides against Caesar.
Flavius--a Tribune.
Cinna--a Poet
Cicero--a Roman Senator.
Clitus, Dardinius, Messala, Titinius--soldiers with Brutus
Lepidus--a supporter of Marc Anthony.
Pindarus--a soldier with Cassius
Murellus--a Tribune.
Decius--a conspiritor against Caesar.
Senators and Tribunes
Rehearsals will commence on Monday 19 September and will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays commencing at 7.30pm and finishing at 10.00pm. Additionally, there will be rehearsals on Sunday 13 November and Sunday 20 November.
I will be using a reduced version of the script and these are available from Chris Weber Brown
