Audition Date: Thursday 15 February, 7:30pm

It’s bonfire Night 2019, Sheila, Denise, Julie and Fay are ‘Team C’ in Pennine Mineral Water Ltd’s annual outward-bound team-building weekend.

Somehow Sheila has been nominated team leader, where using her cryptic crossword solving skills has unwittingly stranded her team on Rampsholme Island on Lake Derwentwater in the Lake District.

Our intrepid heroines find themselves manufacturing weapons from cable ties and spatulas and create a rescue flag with plastic plates and a toasting fork!

Questions are asked, truths are told, dirty washing is aired, including discussions of mental illness and suicide.

The first entrance sees the ladies wading ashore having “capsized from a rowing boat”, they are soaking wet through, where during the first scene they change into dry clothes, on stage. If cast, you will get wet!!

This hilarious and darkly funny play is an updated ‘female version’ of the hugely successful Neville’s Island where Eddie directed the amateur premier at the Archway Theatre, Horley, in 1996.

Characters

Sheila - 30s to late 40s - Hapless team leader. Sheila is a good person, not cut out for a natural leadership role. Tries very hard to stay upbeat, despite their circumstances.

Denise - 30s to late 50s - Sarcastic, non-team player, feels she has been passed over for promotion, sees herself as much better than she actually is.

Julie - age 20s to 40s - Always eager to help and follow her leader – a rather naïve person who can’t believe bad of people.

Fay - age 20s to late 40s - Following a nervous breakdown she came back to work as a “born again Christian”. Spiritual and into nature becoming the heroine of the play.
