A young woman's relantionships with her irresponsible mother, a Nigerian sailor and a homosexual art student.
Jo's relationship with her irresponsible mother, the Nigerian sailor who leaves her pregnant and the homosexual art student who moves in to take care of her while she waits for the baby to be born, are chronicled in the play which has become a modern classic.
Shelagh Delaney was just nineteen when she wrote "A Taste of Honey", first performed by John Littlewood's Theatre Workshop in 1958 and filmed in 1961 with Dora Bryan and Rita Tushingham.
